Austin, TX -(FirearmsGuide.com)- Texans have been tested from Corpus Christi to the Louisiana border and hundreds of miles inland by Hurricane Harvey. The effects are not over and will be discovered for months to come.

Rockport took the brunt of Hurricane Harvey, but hurricanes are much more than wind.  The 20 or more inches of rain, swollen creeks and rivers, took our homes and endangered our lives.

Whether it's a hurricane or a wild fire, Texans are blessed to have safe passage for their firearms during a time of evacuation, thanks to TSRA's work with the Texas Legislature in 2007.  The bill was called the Emergency Powers Act and passed after Hurricane Katrina.

TSRA worked with NRA and with Senator John Carona (R-Dallas) and with Rep. Frank Corte (R-San Antonio) to pass this important legislation,  SB112.   Enrolled Bill Analysis

During the Bastrop Wildfires many discovered fireproof safes are not actually "fireproof" and there is no substitute for advance planning.   We now include private collections and documents in our personal safety plan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those still enduring Hurricane Harvey!  God bless and stay safe!
