Czech Republic -(FirearmsGuide.com)- On Saturday, 14th October, 2017, the shooting range in Hodonice near Znojmo hosted the third year of the charity shoot REGI MEMORIAL. This event is organized by the family of št. prap. i.m. Jiří “Regi” Schams, with the cooperation of the LEX Firearms Rights Association and the company Prague Armory. Česká zbrojovka is proud to be a partner.

In the event, a total of 101 participants had to compete in 10 dynamic shooting situations that were aimed to give the shooters an idea of possible combat tasks that Jiří “Regi” Schams could have performed as a member of the then Special Military Police Operations Unit during his deployment on foreign operations with the Czech Army. In one of these situations, competitors used our CZ P-10 C pistol.

The main purpose of the memorial is to help and support the families of those who gave their lives performing tasks while promoting the interests of our country. At the suggestion of the Czech War Veterans Association, the proceeds from the registration fee, a record sum of CZK 147,445 this year, were donated to the young son of ppor. i.m. Milan Štěrba, who died in 2008 at the age of 34 while fulfilling his duties on an ISAF foreign operation in Afghanistan.

Jiří “Regi” Schams took part in foreign operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. In March 2008, during a mission escorting Danish humanitarian workers, his head was struck by shrapnel in a suicide attack. Despite having to use a wheelchair as a result of his injuries, he devoted himself to organizing charity events and his story has inspired many. He was later diagnosed with a serious illness and died in January 2015.
