Los Angeles, CA - (FirearmsGuide.com) – Echo The Gunbox is the best looking and most practical portable handgun safe. Great design and technical perfection! Please see more in the article....

Recently I was looking for a small, portable handgun box or safe that would be practical, sturdy, not too big or too small and both safe and fast to open when needed. Something that I can have in my house and also easily take with me when I travel, camp or just drive to the range. Something that I can open without a key, because I simply do not want to think about where the key is. I did a lot of research and when I found ECHO The GunBox there was no point in looking further. A week later when I finally got it and tried it, I knew immediately that I was right. ECHO is all that I was looking for…..and more.

I don’t know what the law in your state or country is, but here in California a concealed handgun can legally be transported with a motor vehicle without a permit only by carrying it unloaded and locked in the vehicle's trunk or in a separate locked container other than the utility or glove compartment. Penal Code Section 12026.1 defines a "locked container" as a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device.

Today on the market you can find a huge variety of gun safes, but not that many handgun safes.  Most handgun safes are just a small version of big safes, but still bulky, heavy and not portable. They are made to be mounted somewhere in your home, like in the closet for example. A few portable handgun safes that I found were just too cheaply designed and built, almost like a joke. So after a lot of research I found that ECHO The GunBox is simply the best.

In the ECHO The GunBox package you will find the ECHO hangun safe, 2 RFID cards, 2 RFID FOBs and a USB charging cable. The ECHO looks beautiful. It is perfectly designed and manufactured to the highest standards. There isn’t a single feature that is made cheaply. The new ECHO looks amazing, like a hi-tech gadget and not like anything tactical or gun related. If you keep the ECHO in your living room and you have a party with some anti-gun friends they would have no idea that the ECHO is a safe. Most of them will think that it is some kind of wireless router or internet TV box.

The ECHO is advertised as handgun safe but I think that because of how it looks and works that it has huge non-firearms related use potential. I can see it in many offices or homes used as simple small safe for everyday quick use. If you have kids or maybe hired help in your house you can keep car keys in it, some small amount of cash, a wristwatch, some jewelry, etc. If my father had the ECHO when I was teenager and kept his car keys in it I would be walking home many, many nights. So the ECHO can be a great gift for anyone who doesn’t have guns at all.

If you put ECHO next to your TV no one will even know that is actually a handgun safe

HOW TO OPEN:

The ECHO has 4 ways it can be opened: Fingerprint + Keypad + RFiD cards + RFID FOBs. The RFiD card can be put in your wallet with other cards and the RFID FOB should go on your keychain. Press the white button on top of the lid and when you see the blue light just swipe the card or FOB over it and it will open in a second.  If you want to use the keypad then you first have to program the ECHO. First, open it with the card and on the inside of the lid you will find the learn button. Press it, close the lid and type in a 5-10 digit code in the next 10 seconds. The ECHO will record your code and now you can open it with that code. Programming the fingerprint reader is the same. Press the learn button and then scan your finger 5-10 times to be sure. When programmed, the LED light on the lid will turn green. Now you can open it with your fingerprint. Just place your finger on the reader and wait until the blue LED turn on (about 1 second) and then swipe your finger.  It will open it very quickly – please see our video demonstration below:

I thoroughly tested all 4 ways of opening ECHO and I had zero problems. To me it was also important that opening was always fast. Even with fingerprint scanner. My favorite way to open it is via fingerprint. It is fast, reliable and I don’t have to remember where the RFID card is. Think about going on a hunting trip and you transport your 357 magnum as your personal protection gun in a portable gun safe and then 300 miles from home you can’t find your key?! This will never happen with the ECHO. You can just fingerprint open it anytime anywhere. If you ever decide to sell your ECHO and you want to delete the codes and fingerprints you can do that easily in 30 seconds. Everything is clearly explained in the manual. I also liked the manual because it is short and you can see that it was written by an English speaking tech professional.

Check the exact size of internal space of the ECHO on the picture above

SIZE:

The interior dimensions of the ECHO is 8.5" x 7.25" x 1.75" (216mm x 184mm x 45mm) and as you can see in the pictures you can place one handgun with extra ammo or one loaded regular size handgun and one loaded compact handgun. I don’t think that you can pack two 1911s but one will fit nicely with 3-4 extra mags and that should be enough. The ECHO is very compact so the external dimensions are only 9.5" x 9.25" x 2.15" (241mm x 235mm x 55mm). It is small enough to be placed in a backpack, briefcase, glove compartment of compact car, or under the seat. The ECHO is very portable. Use it on a daily basis from home to office, office to the range, and back home again.

The ECHO is big enough for SIG SP2022 and Bersa 380

OTHER FEATURES

The ECHO uses an internal rechargeable lithium battery that lasts up to 6 months on a single charge. To keep it charged you are supplied with a USB cable so charge it 2-3 times a year. The ECHO was engineered with an Audible Motion Alarm that will sound if moved or tampered with, and a tether cable connection site for securing to a heavier or fixed object, if desired. The Audible Motion Alarm can be easily turned off if you want it.

The ECHO does not come with pre drilled mounting holes so if you want to mount it that way just open it and remove the rubber pad from the bottom and drill holes. It is built of 3.5mm pressure formed aluminum so drilling holes through it should not be mission impossible. I won’t be doing that with mine. It is just too good looking. I will secure mine with a tether cable.

Charge your ECHO 2-3 times a year and you are ready to go. No battery replacement is ever needed.

CONCLUSION

The ECHO is everything that I like. A light, portable, beautiful, hi-tech, fast, handgun safe. Definitely a keeper that will stand the test of time. I don’t expect anything better in the next 5-10 years. It is a perfect Christmas gift for gun enthusiasts in your family. Get it at: https://www.thegunbox.com

Big enough for Bersa 380 with box of 50 rounds and still has enough room for 4-5 magazines
