Los Angeles, CA - (FirearmsGuide.com) – The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 Tactical Light is a 2000 Lumens ultra-bright, heavy-duty tactical Li-Ion rechargeable flashlight that can go for hours powered by SL-B50 powerful battery pack. The Streamlight new ProTac 2.0 Tactical Light is available as a flashlight only or as ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount (Weapon-Mounted Light system).

This is the first Streamlight flashlight that we in Firearms Guide tested. It was a fun experience. This new Streamlight ProTac 2.0 can produce twice the light output as the older versions it’s replacing.

1.) high/strobe/low

2.) high only

3.) low/medium/high

This technology is awesome because every user will simply just choose those light modes that heshe likes the most and that’s it. TEN-TAP programming enables you to use ProTac 2.0 flashlight in the smartest, most efficient, and quick mode for you.

The Streamlight ProTac 2.0  Light Output Modes:

• High: 2,000 lumens; 262m beam; runs 2.5 hours

• Medium: 570 lumens; 142m beam; runs 4.5 hours

• Low: 100 lumens; 60m beam; runs 25 hours

• Strobe run time: runs 4 hours, 25 minutes

The ProTac 2.0 produces excellent and strong light. 2,000 lumens ( Max Candela 17,300 ) for 2.5 hours. It has a regulated power output and provides consistent performance. All of that is possible because of an amazing battery pack that comes in the package. The Streamlight ProTac 2.0  is powered by SL-B50 protected 4,900mAh Li-Ion USB-rechargeable battery pack with onboard safety control.

This is a fantastic battery pack that is fully charged in 6 hours and that is keyed to ensure proper alignment of the charging port. It has onboard safety control that will stop overcharging or depleting and that feature alone will drastically expand the lifetime of your battery. The SL-B50 can be charged in 2 ways with provided USB-C charging cable. Either directly plugged into SL-B50 or first insert the SL-B50 properly into the ProTac 2.0 flashlight and then connect the USB-C charging cable to the charging port of the ProTac flashlight.

That is a great feature because now you can charge the ProTac 2.0 on the go in every possible situation without taking it apart and taking the battery out. With many other flashlights, you have to take the battery out and then charge it in the charger. Maybe that is easy in your home or office but in many outdoor situations or when you are traveling this can be tricky. With the ProTac 2.0, you don’t have to worry about that.

You just plug in provided USB-C charging cable directly into the ProTac 2.0 and you can charge it directly from your cell phone charger, car charger while driving, or from the battery pack. No need to carry around a battery charger all the time. When you go from one job to another, just plug it in your car USB charger and it will be full again when you arrive. No need to take the battery out and then maybe lose some parts due to a bumpy road. And in the case of an emergency, you just grab it and turn it on. No need to assemble it first.

You can think that open USB-C charging port on the flashlight is not a good idea because it opens the body of the flashlight to water and other elements. You are right but Streamlight is one step ahead of you. The Streamlight designed the best charging port cover in the history of flashlights. The ProTac 2.0 has a threaded collar that can be unscrewed to expose the USB-C charging port and then screwed back in to seal it. After charging, tightening the collar back to the head creates a waterproof and dustproof seal, ensuring the longevity of the charging port. The collar seals USB-C charging port so well that the ProTac 2.0 has an IP67 waterproof and inner waterproof rating, just like any other flashlight. Great solution that adds tons of value to the ProTac 2.0.

We also liked the LED charge indicators that are located on the battery adjacent to the USB-C plug. The red light will let you know that SL-B50 is still charging and the green light that battery is fully charged. With an over-charge/over-discharge built-in protection, the battery pack will last longer, and in case something happens, the Streamlight offers a 2-year limited warranty on a battery pack.

Design-wise I like the balance of the size and power of the Streamlight ProTac 2.0 2,000 lumens in the body that is not too small and not too big. Just a perfect size for serious everyday professional use. You can carry it in the provided holster but also in your pocket. It will never be too big or not powerful enough. The design of the strike bezel is less aggressive than on many other tactical flashlights and that is a nice thing. This one is still tactical but it looks more “civilized”. More for everyday civilian & hardworking man use and less for doomsday preppers who have to scrap DNA samples from attacker's face. The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 is a flashlight with a professional design and look.

The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount may be used with an optional remote switch available in momentary-only and momentary/latching versions. To install a remote switch, just insert the remote switch plug into the tailcap port and then mount the remote switch to a firearm as desired. Once mounted on your gun, the ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount with the battery inserted and a remote switch mounted to your gun will add only 9.1 oz to the total weight of your gun.

Firearms Guide Test Conclusion: The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 is a simply fantastic flashlight. Top build quality, top light output, and top tech & design features. It provides great light. It has an even better Li-Ion battery pack. And it has TEN-TAP programming to serve your needs. As weapon-mounted light, it provides enough lumens, a long beam of light, and simple mounting & control options. Our opinion is that you simply cannot go wrong with it.
